Simultaneous Ring / One Number

Simultaneous Ring and One Number are two powerful features available for C-talk customers (except Basic Bundle customers).

Simultaneous Ring
This feature enables calls to a particular number to ring on more than one phone/softphone
Using this feature you can create "Ring Groups" like on a PABX, except with even more flexibility.
You can also use the feature to ring your cell phone in tandem with your C-talk phone, and you can pickup the call on either phone.
We will give instructions for the examples above

NOTE: For Simultaneous Ring to work, the Call Waiting feature must be enabled (which it is be default).

Example 1: Ringing multiple phones in your office at once (Ring Group)
Lets say your main number is 09 879 1234 and the phone at your reception desk is registered with that number
Now lets say you have a phone on your desk with the phone/extension number 028 2440 1111
And your sales manager has a phone on their desk with the extension number 028 2440 2222

When someone calls your main number, you would like the reception phone to ring for 8 seconds, and then if no one answers, start ringing your phone and your sales manager's phone as well until someone picks up, or the call goes to voicemail.

To do this:
  1. Log in to the C-talk portal with the number (username) 09 879 1234
  2. Then click on the "Simultaneous Ring / One Number" option
  3. Tick "Enable Number 1" and enter in the number 02824401111 and "8" in the "seconds delay..." box
  4. Tick "Enable Number 2" and enter in the number 02824402222 and "8" in the "seconds delay..." box
  5. Also, tick the "Hunt Group" option for both numbers as well - this ensures the extensions voicemail doesn't accidentally answer the call
  6. Click Save Options

Now it's all setup!  Please test the configuration to make sure the timing is correct, and adjust as necessary

Variation: To create a "Round-Robin" type ring group, set the timer for each number to a progressively increasing value.  Ie. 5 seconds for the first number, 10 seconds for the second, etc.

Example 2: Ringing your cell phone in tandem with your desk/softphone
To set this up:
  1. Log in to the C-talk portal with either your main number or extension number (as appropriate)
  2. Click on "Simultaneous Ring / One Number"
  3. Tick "Enable Number 1" and enter in your cell phone number
  4. Click "Save Options"

That's it!  Now when someone rings your number/extension, it will on your cell phone too, and you can pick up the call on either

NOTE: If you pick up the call on your cell phone, you will be charged for the cost of the diversion to your cell phone at the normal mobile rate.

One Number
The One Number feature is a feature that allows you to register the same number on more than one device.

A great example of this is registering your number/extension on both your desk phone and your smartphone (eg. iPhone)
The reason for doing this is that if you're connected to a WiFi network with your smartphone, you can make calls from your smartphone through your C-talk account, instead of through your mobile account.

To enable the feature:
  1. Log into the C-talk portal with your number/extension
  2. Click on the "Simultaneous Ring / One Number" option
  3. Tick the "Enable One number feature on this line"
  4. Click "Save Options"

Now to setup on your 2nd device / phone:
Setup your 2nd second device with the same parameters as the 1st device,
EXCEPT, append a "-1" to end of the username and authorisation username
So for the example, the number 028 2540 5689:
Username: 02825405689-1
Authorisation username: 02825405689-1

If you're having trouble setting up your 2nd device, email support@c-talk.co.nz and we'll try to help with your device
